After consultation with key stakeholders, including the Department for Work and Pensions and the insurance industry, this multi stage study first developed a slimmed down version of a Corporate Health and Safety Performance Index (CHaSPI) and a new hazard management index. After two stages of piloting it was found that the hazard management version of the index is the better predictor of incident rates. Therefore an online web enabled version of the hazard management index was developed and hosted by the Small Business Service.
