This award is granted for significant contributions to the application of Ergonomics/ Human Factors. The presentation of the award was made at the CIEHF’s Ergonomics & Human Factors 2017 conference by Claire Dickinson, President Elect of the Institute. Jon Berman’s (Fellow Chartered Institute of Ergonomics and Human Factors (FIEHF)) career in Ergonomics commenced with British Aerospace in Filton in 1977 and then the RAF Institute of Aviation Medicine. He moved to the nuclear industry in 1986, before finally entering consultancy in 1991. Since 1997 he’s been a Director of Greenstreet Berman Ltd, leading its growth from three staff in 1997 to its current 15 staff and being one of the largest independent Human Factors consultancies in the UK with offices in London, Manchester and Reading.  Some of the many contributions from hundreds of projects include:









Particular contributions by Jon to the profession of Human Factors include:

Jon was President of the IEHF in 2012/13. This was a key period for the society with membership passing 1700 in 2012/13 and an informal application for chartership submitted to the Privy Council Office. The Privy Council Office informed the society that it would be in order to proceed to the next phases. Jon supported the development of governance documents, particularly draft Charter and Byelaws.

Jon continues to act as Chair of the Professional Affairs Body and is an Ordinary Member of the CIEHF Council.
