…Fire Research 2/2009

The report looks at four key areas for evaluation and explores how much of a difference the investment Government has made to improve fire safety outcomes. It builds on some interim research, also completed by Greenstreet Berman, which looked at the initial feedback from the HFRC grant regime.

The report looks back at what Fire and Rescue Services did with the grant monies but also looks forward at plans for fire prevention work post March 2008, taking into account working as statutory partners in Local Strategic Partnerships and other community based opportunities.

It shows how the Home Fire Risk Check and Fire Prevention grants contributed to achieving the PSA3 targets. It also reveals how fire and rescue services effectively used the money to drive down fires, non-fatal and fatal casualties, and provides examples of good practice, whilst looking ahead to fire prevention work in the future.
