Understanding people’s attitudes towards fire risk
The research reported on the attitudes of these vulnerable groups to fire risk, encouraging behaviour change and the role and impact of community fire safety advocates. The report includes recommendations for developing the work of advocates and community fire safety more generally. As part of this work on behalf of Communities and Local Government we reviewed evidence regarding:
Psychological models of health and safety behaviours and how they apply to fire safety in the home;
Research into risk perception and how it relates to fire safety in the home.
This work contributed to a national paper regarding targeting of peoples’ fire safety attitudes and behaviours.
